Y.O.B Photo Dump

Nothing fancy here, just a bunch of pictures.  No need to spray a drawn out trip report or step-by-step account of our adventures.  We climbed, we played, we ran errands, we did all the shit everyone else does, only we rode our bikes.

Earlier this spring, before the reality of summer descended, before Liz's injury, I had grandiose dreams of doing all the rad shit SLC climbers and skiers do, only by bike.  But the world has it's ways and they took us away from SLC for most of the summer.  Our time in the Valley was short but we still managed to do a few trips to highlight the bike-ability of SLC and celebrate a Year of the Bike that seemed to go unnoticed by the climbing community.  Enjoy a few pictures from a couple of our more memorable Y.O.B. celebrations, a simul-solo of Mt. Olympus's west slabs route, and a full on adventure to the top of the Middle Bell Tower.

Liz following up the clean cracks on the lower Middle Bell Tower, Bells Canyon.

Hazy city from the top of Middle Bell.  Topping out on this pile of kitty litter just before dark proved to be an epic adventure, one I'm not soon hoping to repeat.

Liz standing ground in traffic on Wasatch Bulevard.

The impressive Middle Bell Tower. With the Ellsworth-McQuarie ascending the prominent left facing corner system to the summit.

Burritos taste better by bike.  A necessary stop after a soggy solo up the West Slabs of Mount Olympus.

Liz making her way to Mt. Olympus under cloudy skies.

Nice and clear lower on the route.

Climbing into the mist.

Fog and rain make for an interesting solo.

Bike path love.  They do exist in SLC.

Trail run/jog/walk up the west ridge of Grandeur.

Keep in touch and start plotting your own human powered adventure, cheers!

  2. Other then the air quality SLC is a blast, tons of quality stone within bike, train, or bus distance. Doesn't hurt that you can always make it home to sleep in a bed! Hope you're doing well Max, shoot me an email if you get a chance, love to hear how you're doing!
